GIS (Geographic Information System)

A Geographic Information System (GIS) is a powerful tool for capturing, storing, analyzing, and displaying geospatial data. It allows users to integrate different types of information (such as maps, satellite imagery, and attribute data) to understand patterns, relationships, and trends within a geographical area. GIS is widely used in various fields, including urban planning, environmental management, public health, and disaster response.

GIS enables users to create and manipulate maps, perform spatial analysis, and make data-driven decisions. It can help answer questions like "Where should a new school be located to maximize accessibility for students?" or "What areas are at the highest risk for flooding during heavy rainfall?"

GIS software provides a range of tools for tasks such as georeferencing, spatial querying, and map production. By leveraging GIS, organizations can gain valuable insights into their geographic data and improve their decision-making processes.
